Lesson 5: Quick Tips for Success

So now you are well on your way to being a great Chat Team Leader. But wait..there’s still more to learn. So here are some more tips and strategies to guide you to success.

Avoid Criticizing & Complaining

The surest way to demotivate people is to criticize them or complain about them constantly. If they make a mistake, put it in perspective with the things they always do well.

Accentuate the positive and utilize mistakes as opportunities for continued improvement. As a result, they will respond better, and your team will stay united and happy.

Praise Improvement

If someone on your team is making an effort to improve, you should acknowledge that, even if the change is small.

Psychologists say that when you positively reinforce a desired behavior, people are more likely to repeat it. Most people want to do the right thing. So you will get better results from positive reinforcement than from negative actions.

Take a Genuine Interest

Nobody likes to feel ignored and unappreciated, including your team members. So make an effort to be interested in each team member. Ask them about their lives, their job, and any issues they may be facing.

You will win their gratitude...and their loyalty, too!

Respect Other People’s Ideas

We are all entitled to our opinions, and we may not always agree. However, you must respect that the people on your team will all have a different perspective on life.

You need to take the attitude of ‘live and let live.’ If someone’s views are radically different from yours, that’s fine. You can still get along with them.

Overall, there are many things you can do to prepare yourself for the position of Team Leader. If you work at this, you will find a whole world of opportunities opens up. The world of live chat is exploding, and the demand for good team leaders is going through the roof.

That means a real chance for you to upgrade to the Team Leader level, where the pay is higher and the potential unlimited. After working in the Team Leader role for a while, who knows what may come next. You could be in line for a Senior Management position!

Almost anything is possible in the world of live chat. All you have to do is make it happen!
